Innovative clean power technologies and custom components within our stereo power amplifiers are what have propelled the Chord SPM series to legendary status in and outside the recording studio. Their ability to instantaneously react and deliver sheer power, whilst maintaining transparency and incredibly low distortion leaves you with nothing but a masterpiece.

The SPM 1050 MkII is one of our most recent stereo amplifiers and introduces a number of benefits over the entry-level SPM 650. Most noticeably, it enjoys MkII status, which offers a number of refinements over the original design; the SPM 1050 MkII also takes power output up to 200 watts from the SPM 650’s 130.

The SPM 1050 MkII uses our proprietary 2KW high-frequency switch-mode power supply and low-distortion amplifier circuitry, featuring four proprietary lateral-structure dual-die MOSFETs per channel (eight in total), enabling even the most demanding loudspeakers to be driven with clarity and precision.

The amplifier offers both balanced and unbalanced inputs, plus two pairs of loudspeaker outputs with gold-plated connections. A single power button offers operational simplicity from stand-by mode and the amplifier’s status is indicated on the faceplate by a simple two-LED sequence showing power and relay functions.

Compared to the original model, the MkII modifications bring reduced output distortion for even greater transparency and fidelity, plus improvements to capacitance for cleaner power delivery. The second-generation version also includes enhanced isolation on the mains transformer to reduce interference and improve the sonic performance.

Aesthetically, the MkII version includes a new vented aluminium lid, akin to our DSX1000 streamer, plus there’s a new piano-black acrylic side-panel option giving the power amp a fresh, contemporary look.
